Directions to the Country School House Quilt Shop

My shop is at the corner of 21st Ave. E. and East 5th Street.  I’m in the DeSmet Agency building.  They have a big sign in parking lot and my little sign is on building next to door.

Directions to the shop: (I am only 3 blocks from the Lake, so when you get to the lake, drive 3 blocks away from it and that is E. 5th St.)   (1) Driving N on Hwy 2/53.  When you see McDonald’s on the right & Culver’s on the left, turn left and go 3 blocks to stop sign,  is  E. 5th St.  The DeSmet Agency building is diagonally across the street.  (2) From Mn – take Blatnik Bridge and follow the Hwy 53 S. signs which will take you under the bridge and along the lake, past Perkins and Fairlawn Museum.  At Culver’s, turn right and  go 3 blocks to stop sign which is E. 5th St.  The DeSmet Agency building is diagonally across the street.  (3) Coming from the N on Hwy 35 (Tower Ave).  Turn right on N 28th St. (Mall Drive) – go past mall and over railroad tracks.  Turn right at the stop lights onto E. 5th St.  Go 3 blocks to 21st Ave E. The DeSmet Agency building is on the right.

November is already here – are you ready for it?  We’ve been working like crazy trying to get samples done for you on all our new lines that have come in.  Come in and see if you can get inspired from what we have done.  This is the month when it’s time to start making gifts for the holidays.  Thanksgiving will be here before we know it and right after that on Sat. the 28th it will be “Small Business Saturday” and lots of small businesses in Superior will be doing this.  We will be having new “demo’s” going on all day, goodies, drawings for prizes and who knows what else!!  We will also be open from 9-4 on that day?

The Frivols Tins from Moda are Here– these are small wall hangings with everything you need except backing in a tin.  We now have 3 of the 4 and the 4th is on its way.   They are already becoming collector items before they are even displayed!  They are cute just in their tins!  They retail for $44.95, but  I lowered my price on them to $35 as I thought the price was a bit high…..come and get them. What great gifts for the quilter!

Ann Hazelwood’s Novels-the series has ended with this last book.

If you haven’t started that series – get those books now…it is a really good series and you will love the ghost that is involved in all the books. This is a great gift for anyone who loves a good novel.  I will miss those great characters and the books.  Hopefully she will start another one.

Swing Coat is done ….Mo did most of the work on this great looking coat that just happens to be in my size.  The pattern has it in all sizes and it will fit anyone.  Duck fabric was used in this one and it has that “modern” look even though swing coats have been around for many, many years – they just made a comeback.  This is for sewers with some experience.

What Can I Make for Gifts for Family and Friends??  This is the question I am asking and I know a lot of you are too.  Luckily, we have some answers for you and some great samples for you to see that will help you decide what will work.  I’ve been looking at the new patterns out since Quilt Market and will be going to Tri-State Market this weekend.  I just came back from a Quilt Retreat and got a few ideas there also.  I just need more time to get those all together for you.  Some Ideas:

  • 10 – minute Table runners – Can do one for about $12 or less
  • Microwave Bowl Holders – make sets of these from your scraps or get a whole layer cake and
    make 20 sets of them!
  • Scarfs – we have them precut and they will be out tomorrow!  Cost $7.95 for infinity kind.
  • Small Bags  – we have a couple new patterns – one from This n’ That which we have sample for and a new one from Atkinson which we will have shortly.
  • Throw quilts – we have a lot of kits for these – take your pick – kids, baby, adults- for both       males and females
  • Aprons – make a whole set with matching hot pads, placemats, etc.
  • Pillowcases – these are always big with everyone and can be made from some fun fabrics.
  • Table Runners, Place mats, Napkins, Casserole Carriers, etc.
  • 18” Doll Clothes – what grandchild or child wouldn’t love a wardrobe of these!  I’d like them   for my doll.  Did I mention the great sleeping bags too.

And I will have many more for you each week..…………………….
