Directions to the Country School House Quilt Shop

My shop is at the corner of 21st Ave. E. and East 5th Street.  I’m in the DeSmet Agency building.  They have a big sign in parking lot and my little sign is on building next to door.

Directions to the shop: (I am only 3 blocks from the Lake, so when you get to the lake, drive 3 blocks away from it and that is E. 5th St.)   (1) Driving N on Hwy 2/53.  When you see McDonald’s on the right & Culver’s on the left, turn left and go 3 blocks to stop sign,  is  E. 5th St.  The DeSmet Agency building is diagonally across the street.  (2) From Mn – take Blatnik Bridge and follow the Hwy 53 S. signs which will take you under the bridge and along the lake, past Perkins and Fairlawn Museum.  At Culver’s, turn right and  go 3 blocks to stop sign which is E. 5th St.  The DeSmet Agency building is diagonally across the street.  (3) Coming from the N on Hwy 35 (Tower Ave).  Turn right on N 28th St. (Mall Drive) – go past mall and over railroad tracks.  Turn right at the stop lights onto E. 5th St.  Go 3 blocks to 21st Ave E. The DeSmet Agency building is on the right.

December  – last month of 2015; 4 weeks from Christmas;  Hey, What happened to Nov.?? Ir sure went by fast and I have the feeling December is going to go by even faster.  I have had myself in overdrive for more than a week trying to get everything at the shop ready for Christmas and hopefully we have got most of it under control.  Only time will tell. Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas….

Small Business Sat. went well – winners for this fun weekend are:  Mary Green, Darla Magdzas, Judie Larson, and Lory Pojac.  Congratulations and I hope you each enjoy your prizes.

12 Days of Christmas – at the end of Saturday as I was putting things away, I thought that I would use the demo’s we did as our 12 Gifts for Christmas so I put them  up on the board and also have a couple of them in the 1st room.  They are numbered so you will know that I didn’t cheat you out of 1 or 2!  For 10 of the gifts there are patterns.  There are also breakdowns of several of the patterns so you can see in stages how it was done.  Just ask if you want to see those or know how one of them is put together in steps. Most of them only take about 30 min. with the longest about 4 hours for a complete quilt!  Don’t forget about those infinity scarves as everyone loves them and in 20 min. you have one done on a machine or 5 min. on a serger.  I have a new gray furry one and an ivory with some bits of taupe in it.  I hope to have those cut by Fri. afternoon.

New –I just got 3 bolts of flannel in that would be great for pillow cases.  One has blue/ivory background with deer; coordinate has birch tree; and 3rd coordinate has brown with look of wood.

See the quilt we have up on the 1st quilt rack on wall next to door when entering the shop.  It has those red, gray, and cream colors that are so popular.  We also precut the side borders to make the quilt faster and more economical.   Also got some more novelty fabric – baseball, golf, football field layout in greens and gold (does that say Packer to you?), bicycle (older Schwinn looking ones) and something else I can’t remember!  The Very Very Hungry Caterpillar will become a quilt by next week.  I finally got things together!  We have some great kids quilts and some very easy ones for you to do.

Gifts, Gifts, Gifts….get your gifts for quilters here.  We still have a nice assortment of kits, books, and patterns.  If nothing else we have great Gift Certificates that do not expire.  Send your favorite Santa our way or come in and choose something for some of your quilter friends.  We can find you something for just a few dollars or up to a new Sewing Machine!

Hours for Dec.  Dec. 24 Open only 10-12;  Closed on the 25th and 26th.  If you have visitors from outside the area and they want to see quilt shop, call me on my cell 218-391-2543 and I can come and meet you on the 26th.  We didn’t think we would have many people on that weekend so decided to close, but I am in town so can easily run over.   Merry, Merry Christmas to all of you and your families.
